My name is Scott Rawstorne. I was an Australian Canoeing certified Flatwater Kayak Instructor for fifteen years, teaching basic skills at Kayak and Canoe Inc. in Sydney, the Kayak Cafe in Ballina, and Byron Community College. I have run tours for Sydney Harbour Kayaks, Southern Adventures, Ocean Planet, Eco Escapes, and Ballina Kayaks, and I have sold paddling equipment for Perception Kayaks, Mission Kayaking, Blue Sky Outdoor Experts, and Bunyips Great Outdoors. My passion for paddle sports has led me to launch on to more than 500 waterways in 8 countries. I’m also an explorer, adventurer, philosopher, nature lover, and the lead guide for this tour of the best paddling destinations in Australia.
I created the Global Paddler project with the aim of providing comprehensive paddling information for everyone who loves seeing the world from the water. Global Paddler has been documenting paddle trails for Australian waterways since 2007. We have created 5 guidebooks and more than 400 online guides. Our guides include maps, photographs, logistical details, carefully researched historical information, local points of interest, and quirky facts, so kayakers, canoeists, and stand up paddlers can immerse themselves in every adventure.
